Alaska Gold Claims for Sale
Alaska holds more active placer gold production than any other state in the country. From the Fortymile country near the Yukon border to the creeks of the Seward Peninsula and the Interior drainages around Fairbanks, Alaska offers prospectors a scale of gold country unmatched anywhere in the lower 48.
Geology
Alaskan gold deposits fall into two broad categories: residual placer deposits in creek gravels and bench gravels formed by ancient drainage systems, and lode deposits hosted in Precambrian metamorphic terranes and Cretaceous intrusive rocks. The Yukon-Tanana terrane around Fairbanks is one of the most productive gold belts in North America.
Mining Districts
Key mining districts include the Fairbanks district, the Fortymile district, the Circle district, the Nome district on the Seward Peninsula, and the Valdez Creek district in the Alaska Range. Each district has its own character, production history, and logistical requirements.
BLM and Land Access
Federal lands in Alaska are managed by the Bureau of Land Management Alaska State Office in Anchorage. Many productive areas fall within BLM jurisdictions where unpatented mining claims can be located. Some areas fall within state-owned land managed by the Alaska Division of Mining, Land and Water.
Season and Access
The Alaska mining season typically runs from late May through early September depending on elevation and location. Ground thaw, road access, and daylight all factor into operational windows. Many remote claims require fly-in access.
